Eric Draven was a musician. He and his girlfriend were murdered, and in Draven's case, his sorrow and rage bypassed his soul to the form of a crow. Draven returned from the grave half-insane with his last living recollections but focused singularly on the mission of avenging the murder of his girlfriend. He sat at her old vanity mirror and painted himself into a horrific clown, and then set about the systematic execution of the guilty parties. Draven was virtually invulnerable, so long as his crow familiar remained intact. Draven's quest would ultimately lead him to the big boss, the outlandish Top Dollar. But by then, top Dollar had learned of Draven's only weakness, and had set his own sights on Draven's melancholy power.
