A classical scholar, as well as a graduate of the Special Forces School and Flight Warrant Officers School, FLINT brings a broad intellectual background as well as finely-honed technical skills and tactical knowledge to the G. I. JOE Team. He is proficient with all NATO small arms, explosive devices, and rated to fly all current U.S. military helicopters as well as rotary wing aircraft in the services of most western and former Soviet Bloc powers.
FLINT is believed to have participated in or led numerous covert hostage rescue missions in hostile territories and in domestic COBRA strongholds. The exact nature and details of these missions are highly classified and unlikely to be made public or even acknowledged. It doesn't bother FLINT in the least that he will never receive credit for these missions, nor be awared decorations or citations. "I didn't do it to get promoted," he said, "I did it to bring those Americans home." The resident intellectual of the G. I. JOE team, FLINT finds the BARONESS especially despicable because of her intelligence and educational background; he thinks she should simply know better.
"We're not heroes, we're just doing our job."
Incrbly self-involved and lacking in empathy, the BARONESS has all the primary qualifications of a world-class oil company executive or corporate raider. Born in wealth, she was a student radical and dabbled in extremist fringe groups before aligning herself with COBRA and worming her way into the confidences of both COBRA COMMANDER and DESTRO. Nominally designated the Director of Intelligence for COBRA Command, her duties actually covered a much wider range of loathsome activities. More recently, her allegiance seems to have shifted markedly toward DESTRO, but it remains to be seen if this is simply a scam. Coldly cynical yet hopelessly romantic, calculating but naïve, brutally blunt and prone to beating around the bush at times, the BARONESS is a mass of contradictions. The one glaring consistency in her muddled thought processes is her intense hatred of the G. I. JOE Team, with FLINT being singled out for that special dislike she reserves for those she suspects to be her betters.
"The ideals of COBRA are the true reflection of the self-serving masses that comprise the 'me generation.' What fairy tale fantasy about valor, loyalty, and integrity is the G. I. JOE team upholding?"
