Snake-Eyes is one of the original members of the G.I. Joe team. He fought in Vietnam alongside Lonzo Wilkinson, Tommy Arashikage and Wade Collins. After the war, Snake-Eyes found out that his family had died, so Tommy took him to japan to be trained by his family, the Arashikage ninja clan. The friends became training rivals, and when the Hard Master of the Arashikage Clan was killed by an arrow, the clan dissolved, and thus Snake-Eyes lost his new family. Tommy would become the Cobra ninja Storm Shadow.

When Lonzo, now Stalker, was helping General Hawk to assemble an elite team codenamed G.I. Joe, he reccomended Snake-Eyes to Hawk, so they went to Snake-Eyes' cabin in the High Sierras and recruited him.

Snake-Eyes got disfigured and lost his voice during a mission, and now wears his black mask all the time.
