I love the 1990 film Nightbreed, but it flopped at the box office and never got much attention until the last five years or so when new footage surfaced. I decided to make my own figures of the film, all closely screen accurate. First up is the hero, Boone, played by Craig Sheffer. I chose to depict Boone without the jacket, recreating the scene where Decker impales him with his sword. Boone, impaled, falls face down onto a table with playing cards on it and the sword catches a card to his chest. I used a Spike figure from the Buffy line, and the head of Angel from the figure version that has a Hawaiian shirt on. I drilled a hole in the chest for the sword to go through, using a cut down gun holster embedded inside the chest to make the sword removable. After painting the shirt, I chipped away the paint to create the torn shirt from the skin. I used sculpy on the forehead to enhance it a tad, added a mullet to the back of the head, painted it, drew on the tribal markings with a Prismacolor colored pencil, then sprayed it with sealant. I scratch built the kabuki sword and sculpted the handle. The playing card comes from a 1:12 scale card set. I selected the specific red ace of hearts card seen in the film. I included an image from the film. I hope you like it! Please wait... |
