From Clive Barker's Lord of Illusions is the villainous Butterfield, a man who is very adept in the art of murder. Having spent his formative years in a compound in the Mojave Desert under the tutelage of cult leader Nix, Butterfield was Nix's right hand man. Butterfield couldn't prevent former student Swann, of whom which Nix favored, from binding the powerful magician with a spell and burying him. Thirteen years later, he and his cohort Miller are on the trail of hugely successful illusionist Phillip Swann to discover the location of Nix and resurrect him with special skills he had learned over time. After a deadly "accident" that supposedly kills Swann and after several other murders, Butterfield succeeds in bringing back the evil Nix from the grave, a man born to murder the world. Only Harry D'Amour can stop them! To make Butterfield, I used a Hawaiian shirt Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The figure was taller than the other Spike figures and suited Butterfield's build perfectly. I added extra to the torso's shoulders to hide the ball joints of the arms a bit. I filled in the mid torso that was poseable so that I could have a solid shirt with no breaks. To paint the gold pants, I mixed brown and yellow and gave it a base coat. After sealing it, I dabbed on gold paint with a brush. Painting gold can be very difficult, so this technique worked wonders. The cigarette is a piece of styrene plastic that was rounded with an xacto and sanded. The head was a custom cast resin Submariner. I cut down the pointy ears and carved away the pointy hair on top. I sanded away the eyebrows and altered the forehead with sculpy. I also sculpted new hair onto the head. Butterfield's head was very difficult to get right. I added a screenshot from the film for comparison. Please check out my other Lord of Illusions custom action figures.

Have you ever watched a man die?
If you watch carefully, you can see the soul when it leaves the body.
Oh, you'll do more than that!!

Thanks for the praise. I put a lot of thought into the pose for the figure, as it definitely reflects his character! That likeness was hard to get right too. I appreciate you looking!

Thanks Edgy. This line of figures all started way back when I was first making Peloquin for Nightbreed. I thought the head of The Master that I used on Peloquin would make a great Miller. From there, I ended up with three Lord of Illusions figures. So funny that I ended up not using the head that inspired the project(s).
