So here is my custom figure of Poison Ivy as portrayed by Uma Thurman for 1997s Batman & Robin, the only character who could truly thaw the audiences icy hearts! I actually really enjoyed Uma in this role, despite everything else being so bad. To make Ivy, I used the standard Ivy figure from the Hasbro line for the torso. The arms were from Batman Returns Catwoman, lengthened above the elbows, using the hands from the same Ivy figure. The legs were from the Poison Ivy that came in a 2-pack, as her stance was normal as opposed to the exaggerated stance of the other figure. I had to do away with posability on the legs, as the joints didn't match the torso at all and had to be covered in epoxy and sanded down. I used styrene plastic to craft the top of her thigh boots and to make the leafy collar on her chest, blended with epoxy to make it look like part of her outfit. I also used epoxy to make the cuffs on her wrists, and paper to make the leafy protrusions that cover her hands. I drilled tiny holes and then cut the ends off of toothpicks to make the thorns on the back of her thigh boots and her wrist cuffs. The belt was made from a thick elastic string I had. The head was the most difficult. I stumbled across a figure at a comic book store called Electra Woman, if memory serves me correctly. I thought she had the perfect head for Uma. The scale was way wrong, but luckily the actual head was too small for the body, making it right for this! I added the hair pulled back around her face with sculpy, and crafted a new neck on the body for this head. I drew on her eye makeup with a couple of Prismacolor colored pencils. I made two cones on her head from epoxy and wrapped them in yarn. I used yarn to make her elaborate hair style, and it looked horrible. I had a great figure here with terrible hair! Years passed, and I got her out one day and decided that I knew a way to craft her hair with sculpy, one small twisted piece at a time. After testing my idea on another figure, I ripped off the yarn, leaving only the cones, and made new hair, which I think turned out quite well. Sadly, the sculpy on the shoulders renders the figure totally unposable. Her knife was some random accessory that I repainted. Poison Ivy was the most difficult figure in my series of vintage Batman custom figures, and she certainly took the longest due to not knowing how to do her hair back then.
