So, after having bought the Mattel DC Multiverse Earth-23 Superman, I decided that while it was a nicely designed figure, I wanted to have one that was more representative of his Pre-Flashpoint look which he sported during Final Crisis.
So, to do this figure, I took a DC Universe Classics Gotham City 5 Superman figure, and used the boil and pop method to remove his head, and then repeated the process on a broken DC Multiverse Earth-23 Superman to get the head that I needed for this figure. Next, I used brush and roller cleaner to strip off the painted on Superman symbols from the chest and cape of the Clash in the Cosmos Superman. With the Superman symbols now removed from the figure, I commenced a full repaint of the neck and hands with Citadel Knight-Questor Flesh Layer paint. Once the paint on the neck and hands had fully dried, I gave the chest, and hands two generous coats of Flat Clear. Once the Flat Clear had dried, I realized that the Knight-Questor Flesh paint did not exactly match the skin tone of the DC Multiverse Earth-23 Superman head, so I then had to repaint the head with the Citadel Knight-Questor Flesh Layer paint for the skin, and Testors Model Masters Flat Black for the hair and eyebrows. Once the paint on the head had fully dried, I commenced two generous coats of flat clear like I had previously done to the body. When the Flat Clear on the head had completely dried, I used the boil and pop method to attach the head to the body. With the figure fully assembled, I glued new symbols onto his chest and cape (both symbols were made by hand at a larger size, and then photocopied and shrunk to proper size...however, unlike previous hand drawn symbols I had done before, the one on the chest was colored with a reversed color scheme), and TA-DA...the Earth-23 Superman as he appeared Pre-Flashpoint during his appearance in Final Crisis!!!
