What started out as an idea to just repaint the GOTG movie figure, turned into a much bigger, better project. I took advice from the wife, after showing her comic images of Ronan, she said, "he should be bigger." So I decided the colossus figure from the Jugg BAF wave had the right size and head could work.... but I knew I would have to shave it down if I wanted to make the Cowl/Helmet/shoulder pads work. I shaved down almost 50% of his head to get it to fit on there right. So the top and sides of his head dremeled down and sanded smooth. His right hand is a Beast fist that I drilled a hole into for the hammer to go in. Sculpted the forearm cuffs to match with the boot cuffs. Sculpted the neck part/armor to match what I saw in some images. I chose metallic emerald green for his armor and metallic gold flake painted over gloss black to make the other parts. Saw many different renditions of the colors, at one point a had a green/gold mix I was using on the thighs and biceps but it clashed a bit too much and though was accurate to some images, didn't look appealing or compliment well. Repainted the purple stone on the hammer with blue and added the blue lines I saw in some images. Used a teal mint green for his chest logo and some of the lines on his cowl and shoulder pads. Was able to cut up some of the GOTG movie Ronan parts and reuse for his belt/kilt. Really happy with how it all turned out. Always wanted a comic Ronan and never got that old BAF one. This is so far the most time/effort I've put into a custom, and I'm very happy with how he looks. Hope you like him too. Please wait... |

Ronan Completed
Took a picture right away as soon as i finished the last step, which was to glue down the cowl/helmet/shoulder pads part.
Bumping into the Surfer
Oh hey there!
Early Stages - concepts
I remember thinking I'm never gonna get this helmet/cowl to seat all the way on this head...
Concept Image
There were many images I was looking at for color ideas/pallets, but this was the one I went to the most. I like how the green and gold compliment.
