Nightwing in his classic 90s suit. Not a particularly deep custom, but it is the most intricate work I've done so far; enough that I thought it was worth sharing. I really like the base figure, so I didn't want to change much; it just wasn't my favorite suit design for the character.

The recipe only uses the base figure, as well as painting and sculpting materials. I used Milliput to sculpt the additional arm and hand segments of his symbol, and used my Dremel and hobby knife to remove his ugly back holsters for his Escrima Sticks, filling the grooves with Milliput. After it dried I just used a fine grit sandpaper to smooth it out.

I used straight Testors Flat Black acrylic model paint for the mask, and for the symbol I used Testors French Blue with a few drops of Testors Flat White mixed in. Originally I tried using straight French Blue on the symbol, but it was too dark and a bit too translucent. Mixing in the white seemed to give the pigment a base to adhere to.

I thought about removing the blue bits on the calves, but they actually look kind of nice, and there have been some versions of Nightwing's suit pre-Rebirth that had accents on the calves, so I just painted them to match the same shade of blue. After my initial painting I mixed a faint black and went over any blotches or mistakes that were on the suit, and I'm surprised how seamless I got the black to be.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. The paint and overall shape of the sculpted parts is pretty much perfect; I just wish I could've gotten the finish to be a little smoother. I tried my best.

Yeah, the base figure was only thing I used for this besides paint, tools, and sculpting puddy. It's a good looking figure when you get it posed in a way that compliments it.

I honestly wasn't the biggest fan of the McFarlane Nightwing, but this makes it look so much better.
