The design of this bat-like monster, Titanus Camazotz, is really cool and challenging. I devoted the build mainly on the initial spoiler image from the graphic novel Kingdom Kong (provided below). I began with a werewolf figure head from Big Lots. I used the head and hands, and trimmed the ears. I then used the Odin BAF helmet horns for Camazotz's horns. I really went back and forth about leaving the horns unbroken or broken on the one side. I ended up siding with a broken left horn to match the scene in the graphic novel. Surprisingly the wings were the biggest challenge. In different panels of the graphic novel, the wings look drastically different. In some cases the wings are ripped and leathery. In others they are shredded into fleshy/furry bits. For the main body I used a children's Man Bat figure. I swapped the heads and added the larger hands and bones on the wings. I added a tail from a skeleton dragon and used toothpicks as the tail spikes. The legs and feet were swapped using scraps. Real fur was then added as a mane over a skeletal ribcage which is difficult to see from the angle in the pictures. The figure scales well with the 5-6 Kong figures but it cannot stand on its own. The stand is needed, which is fine because I can simulate flight with it. It is not a perfect representation, but I feel it is close enough, given the changes seen in different panels. Thank you for looking! Please wait... |
