I did one of these 'Casual' style Anime Raven figures a while back and had the chance to do another, so this custom was more of an attempt to recreate the original than anything else, but it still turned out different. With the first figure and this one, I ordered the base figures off a Chinese knockoff site knowing I intended to use them for customs. I actually ordered this Android 18 base figure first, but the order ended up getting cancelled, so I ordered the base figure that would become my first Raven...then a year later, the original ordered showed up. And they were like night and day, the base figure for the first figure had a great sculpt, good paint, easy to work with parts...this one, not so much. That said, the first step was cleaning it up. It's limbs had clearly been pulled straight from the mold and had that extra plastic on the seams and fingers, so that can had to be sanded. Following that, the limbs, head and other remeoveable parts were removed to make painted easier as well as sculpting on the head diamond. Good example of this base figure being lesser quality-unlike the first figure that had a rubber shirt that was easier to put back on the figure, this one was plastic and was the biggest pain to reattach-it wasn't even possible to get it 100% flush again. Anyhow, after everything was painted, the figure was reassembled, the base repainted and then everything was sealed. Overall, I think the first figure looked better and was easier to work with, but this one didn't turn out too bad and it was good practice with working with anime figures. ![]() |
