Rival Turf was also the first time I really experienced Player 1 and Player 2 color variants. Before this I was more familiar with X-Men, Streets of Rage, and the Ninja Turtles arcade game. Where you just picked different characters. But here, you could pick the same character with just a color difference. That always stuck with me. A few years ago, I even made my own original player one/player two designs inspired by that approach.

Head was a cast from StarWarsGeek with the hair resculpted. Hands were from a BossFight Tarzan. Feet were from a BossFight Boxer. Sculpted the bottom of the pants, sleeves, shirt, and jacket. Belt was from Captain America. Full repaint, and all done!
