So when planning out the shelf, the obvious next question was how I wanted to handle Bill Foster. While Marvel's apparently been fine writing him off in the comics for the last decade (He's all over the MCU tie in stuff, least you could do is resurrect one of the dumbest and most pointless deaths in Civil War.), he was up there with Janet and Scott as one of the essential elements of Hank's extended "family", and there was one or two other growing characters I wanted to include. I wasn't going to spend $200 to customize a couple of Haslab Giant Men, that'd be insanity... but I did at least want them a bit bigger than the other Marvel Legends, with 12" being the natural choice. However, while a version of Bill WAS made in that scale... it was based on the Icons Cyclops body, which I just HATE. I hate the hips, I hate the awkward gangly arms, I hate the stretched out hands, etc. So, like with many figures in this project, I made my own. I kept the newly created elements from Hasbro's Bill Foster (the head and belt) and transplanted them over to one of the 12" Marvel Legends Deadpool figs from 2016. While I wouldn't have had to contend with the straps on the feet if I'd used a Spider-Man instead, the glove and boot straps from Deadpool worked better for Goliath, not to mention Deadpool was far, FAR cheaper. Honestly, I feel the results here speak for themselves. Between the better base body and the paint job (which I purposely made lighter than Hasbro's because you lost a lot of the detail of the head sculpt due to how dark it was), Bill is one of my favorite parts of the collection. ![]() |
