The final-ish addition to my "Project Small World" shelf*, Erik Josten's Atlas. This one was more work than it probably should have been... I decided that because I was doing Bill Foster on the leaner Deadpool/Spider-man body, I wanted Erik to contrast him by being a bit stockier. That was easier said than done, however. The 12" ML line was fairly limited in terms of characters, and for better or worse, they were all highly detailed. I ended up deciding that a mix between Captain America (or, rather, Super Adaptoid, since he was cheaper and had better boots) and Thor was likely my best bet, though I wasn't sure how much of Thor was usable under the belt and skirt. Thankfully, the combination worked fairly well. Once I stripped off the extras, the most glaring issue with Thor was just the holes where the cape snapped in, but I was able to use them to attach custom shoulder-pads. I used sculpt to fill in the boot cuffs, thicken the neck, and smooth over the strings on the collar, then used Worbla to make the logo and mask. While I knew generally the look I wanted, I was a bit wishy washy on color scheme... I have a soft spot for his second costume as a call back to his OG Goliath outfit with the brown and orange, but several friends (off and online) convinced me that the color scheme from the original Thunderbolts run would pop far more. And... yeah, they weren't wrong. *Raz Malhotra is on my radar, but tbh I kinda want him to get his own costume first. Don't get me wrong, the AA Giant Man costume is probably my favorite of Hank's costumes... but that's also my biggest issue with it, I associate it so much with Hank. So while I'd love to have Raz represented as well, I can't bring myself to do him in that particular costume. ![]() |
