Custom #:15881

Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:G.I. Joe

Base Figure:ML Captain America Ult.
Height:6.00 inches
This one was another quickie with the majority of the work being repainting the base fig and adding the cobra symbols. I was gonna do an all cloth Cobra Commander at first, and still might, but I didn't want this body to go to waste. So to make up for that I made the hood out of cloth and a little bit of sculpt around the eyes to get the eye holes right.

In no way am I starting a G.I. Joe 'block' here or anything, as some customizers tend to do, there are just too many cool characters. I always liked Cobra commander and his costume design, this figure being based off of the Sideshow version more than anything. The only other character I plan on doing is an all cloth Storm Shadow based on the movie costume design.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for all the comments guys. The mask was made the same way as Rorschach's mask. I wrapped the cloth around the whole head and glued it in certain places to achieve the hooded look(forehead, sides and back, cheeks, chin). I used Ult. Cap's head. I then cut off any excess cloth that was hanging off the back of the head, I also used fabric glue to make the folds that hang down in front of his face. I Just put it on the cloth an pinched it into shape. I had cut out eyeholes for reference with some scissors but in order to get them the correct shape at that scale I had to sculpt around them. The sculpt goes from beneath his eyes to the top of the forehead (to give myself a smooth surface for the forehead insignia). The rest is just paint. Hope this answers your questions.

I really love this. The blending of sculpted material and the cloth really works. The texture of the cloth really helps the whole thing work. I love mixing media, and this has inspired me to use more textured materials to bring out realistic looks. Fantastic!
