::Diorama Recipe:

x1 sheet of wood from a hobby store
x1 sheet of faux grass from a hobby train store
x8 Gaussboys magnets of various sizes + one steel screw
x1 block of green Styrofoam from Michael's craft store
x1 bottle of "Gorilla Glue" to bond the magnets into the sculpted Styrofoam dinosaur
(Superglue doesn't bond to Syrofoam)
x1 plastic Hawaiian shirt (from BTVS Spike 2-pack figure, trimmed)
x1 Elastics (thin)
x2 Elastics (thick, found around vegetables usually)

::Diorama Base:

I wanted to create a way for the scene to be rearrangeable to the customers desired positioning, and without the need for footpegs. While the figure has foot pegs for his smaller plastic display stand, I needed something different for working with the faux grass sheet.

Before working with the wood dio base, I spray painted it black so any wood color at the edges would be masked.

After it dried, I drilled various holes in the wood base deep enough for magnets to be flush with the surface. After those were superglued in and allowed to cure, I superglued the grass sheet down over top, and trimmed it to fit. I made sure to marker the edge of the grass sheet so there was no white line visible.

::Styrofoam Dinosaur

I used a photoreference from the film and traced the dinosaur on a cutdown cube of Styrofoam, then sculpted the dinosaur using an attaching that came with my dremel. I just dremmeld away anything that wasn't a dinosaur from all 6 directions. It made quite a mess, but was much more effective than cutting into it with a hobby knife.

I used "Gorilla Glue" (which foams up as it cures) to bond a steel screw and 2 magnets into the dinosaurs. I used one steel screw (still attracts magnets) in the, as I didn't want it the pull to be so extreme that it cracked the styrofoam, or made posing the sculpture difficult.

I also placed 2 hockey-puck shaped magnets in Edward Scissorhands feet using superglue.

After curing, I dremmed away the excess, and painted the sculpture in various shades of green, browns, and yellows, matched to the green turf.

:: The end result

Both figures can be placed in a number of configurations for display, thanks to the inset magnet system.

For more photos, be sure to visit my website gallery. I've also posted a few images in the comments section.

Hope you like this figure as much as I do. When the whole display was presented to the owner (a huge Edward Scissorhands fan), he was ecstatic. :)
