I've recently returned to a childhood love. And even better, this time, I've gotten my kids into it. Yes, friends, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are making ANOTHER comeback. I really like the 2003 line, but I've always prefered the more realistic look of the movies. So that's what we're blending here.
I started with Leonardo. I wanted the posability that the Fightin' Gear turtles provided, but thought the regular Leo head looked more movie style. Had to dremel it to fit. I also changed out the hands so that the finger articulation wouldn't keep dropping his swords. After that, it was pretty much minor paint application. I dry-brushed the shell in brown and gave the shell sides a golden brown to match the front. Gave him pupils (which I am very proud of how they turned out.) And added freckling to try and mimic his movie look. That's pretty much it.
