Thrown between dimensions on his quest to rid the multiverse of deadites, Ash Williams now wages a war against the Black Lantern Corp. as a surly servant of Oa. Word is, on his first week of duty, he was punched out by Batman. Twice. Recipe: DCUC Starman (variant) – pants/shoes/lower arms DCUC Hal Jordan (GL 5-pack) – torso/upper arms/ring McFarlane Movie Maniacs Ash – Chainsaw hand (modified) NECA S-Mart Ash – neck, left & hands (modified), Shotgun (stock) ML Bishop – Shotgun (barrels, spliced with NECA stock) DCD Green Lantern stand (not pictured) DCD Kyle Rayner – Lantern Battery Numerous Rare Earth Magnets from Gaussboys – embedded in both alt. hands, and in the palm/stock of the gun to aide in holding the shotgun. This is part of a series of horror-themed Lantern Corp. members. In this wave, we have GL Ash, RL Jason, and coming soon, Sinestro Corp. Predator. Next will be Orange Lantern Leatherface, and Indigo Lantern Mike Myers. Fairly straightforward custom, with a few speedbumps: the Starman torso, lacking an abcrunch, has a different waist socket than most. I wound up supergluing the Hal Jordan torso directly into a hollowed out, reinforced socket in the Starman pants. After some part swapping and dremmeling, I installed two rare earth Magnets inside Ash’ right forearm. Making sure they were the same polarity as the ones I installed in the Chainsaw and Gauntlet hands, I superglued each pair of magnets (layering increases their power). I also anchored the magnets in each hand on top of a small screw, to ensure they didn’t fall off during the gluing process. The emerald green was achieved with Tamiya gunmetal and chrome silver, then after it’s fully dried/cured, painting over it with a premixed combination of Blue + Yellow clear coats, since I don’t think Tamiya even makes a clear green. I found mixing my own clear coat allows for greater control over the hue. Attached Ash’ neck/head, sculpted the collar/epaulets, and painted the whole figure with Tamiya and Vallejo paints. Sealed any running areas with Krazy glue (liquid type). The figure completely sealed with Citadel spray, then Vallejo Matte Varnish to give it a really nice finish. Be sure to check out the extra pictures posted in the comments thread. I was really happy with how he came out, and by how close a match some NECA figures are to ML/DCUC 6" scale. -Blayne ![]() |
