In loving tribute to one of my favorite bands. Tommy (the drummer) is the only one of these guys that is still alive. And also Bubbles The Pinhead, whose whereabouts are unknown (although it is rumored he has taken up residence in the 4th Dimension).
My friend Johnny here in Atlanta runs a really awesome theater called The Plaza and they are showing "Rock N Roll High School" there soon. He asked me if I wanted to be in a Ramones themed art show they are having; less than a nanosecond later I already knew I had to make Ramones Megos. I love those moments in customizing when you have a flash of inspiration like that, and you know it's the beginning of a new hunt/wrestling match/project! It's very exciting. I had so much fun working on this that I am considering doing a set of the early Misfits in the Mego style.
I scored almost all of the ingredients (bodies/heads/clothes) for this project from CTVT and, budget wise, came in at 93 bucks, with a pair of sneakers and a jacket left over for future endeavors. All of the bodies were re-strung and a few wobbly knee/ankle joints were tightened up using the super glue method (see tutorials). All of their hair-dos were sculpted using Aves Apoxie. Their t-shirt logos were printed and then pasted onto their shirts using Mod Podge (there is a trick to this: you have to furl and unfurl the logo up like a poster every which way before you apply the paste so it is pliable and not just a flat piece of paper when you stick it on), it works quite well.
