Phoenix, Age of Apocalypse Style - Created May 28, 2011

This is the fourth piece for my customer wanting to complete his Toybiz X-Men Age of Apocalypse collection. I made AoA Phoenix using the body from the Battle Blasters Jean Grey and the head from the old Toybiz Elektra.

I painted her up matching Phoenix's outfit in the Age of Apocalypse storyline and even included a backdrop. I cut out the shape from an action figure blister pack and painted the flaming phoenix with several layers of clear red and yellow, and insignia red, orange, and insignia yellow. All paints were Testors Model Masters. This is actually my favorite custom I've done in this lineup yet and it really shows how much you can get out of the old Toybiz figures.
