Okay, here goes. I finally got a hold of two (one loose, one mint on card) of the much sought after Mongul figures from the Superman Returns: Man of Steel Series figure collection. This figure was only available it seems overseas in Asia, and I needed it to complete my Superman Returns movie figure collection. Taking a look at the figure, I found several places where he could be improved, and so, I set about taking my loose one and doing so.
First, I broke out my Milliput and filled in the bottoms of his feet since the way the original figure was designed, he had hollow feet. After allowing the Milliput to dry, I sanded the bottoms of his feet smooth and flat, and then painted the boots in a black base color (this was to give the boots a darker color when I applied the Kandy Scarlet red to them). Next, I commenced a full repaint on the two-tone yellow head and hands to make them one uniform dark yellow. Once the skin was dry, I started a full repaint of the body, painting all of the armor pieces silver (originally, the armor had been a bluish silver...yuck). As soon as the silver had dried, I began painting the costume so that it more closely matched the design of Mongul's costume in the comics and the Superman Returns video game, using Kandy Scarlet red for the shirt, trunks, and boots (the boots definitely do look darker thanks to the black base coat) and Bright Blue for the leggings. Once all paint had fully dried, Mongul was finished, and TA-DA...Mongul, a Superman enemy to be reckoned with!!!!
Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.
