Name:Panthro
Contest:Thundercats Ho!
Custom Type:Action Figure

Date Added:December 6, 2011
Base Figure:Various

I did this figure back in February using some wrestling figure as a base and sculpted a new head and pant legs along with adding the vest/armor from the Berserker Predator . I didn't know what to do with it when I was done so I gave it to a good buddy at work. When this contest came around I thought, why not put him in? So here ya go!

I created a thread for this in the Moderators section about 2 days ago now. We discussed this topic to see how best to handle it for not only just this submission and contest but the following contests as well.

The decision is unanimous to let this custom be allowed to participate in the contest. The same can be said for any future contest entries that have been made previously before the start of a contest. However, as it's been, those said entries will be allowed provided that they have never been viewed elsewhere or previously submitted here.

There were mainly 2 reasons for this decision and they are as follows:
1. We need more people/entries for contests. Unfortunately contests of late have been on the slim side, so rejecting submissions aren't in the best interest.
2. These contests are primarily for fun. They are meant for users (customizers and non-customizers alike) to get involved in the site's activities by helping to bring more interest abroad.

Patraw, Argenta-2008, and Thundarr-O- Thank you guys for your opinions, insights, and participation. They are very valued and appreciated.

Thank you all for your time and understanding,
Shin

Very well, I will abide by the moderators' decision. I went back and changed my vote to reflect my thoughts on the figure's artistic merits, rather than on when it was made.

Awesome Panthro figure! Looks almost like a movie concept version. I don't usually comment, but thought I'd chime in since I don't see how this figure broke any rules since it hasn't been posted to the Realm before. The customizer was maybe just being too honest in his write-up, otherwise it wouldn't even be an issue. This is all for fun right? I want to see more awesome figures, not less!!! Anyways, Excellent work & keep it up!

I don't see any problem in this, as long as it hasn't been seen. The creator don't know if there will be a contest, it is just sheer luck if it fits in a contest and hasn't been posted before. I'am sure many people does this although they don't mention it. And all the same, how the administration will know a custom is old or not if it hasn't been posted?

To help clear up any further miscommunication, this figure is indeed eligible for the contest. Customs that have been done months or even maybe years earlier can be submitted to contests here provided that they have never been shown previously elsewhere, especially on the site. If they fit the criteria/conditions for the contest, there is no reason why they cannot enter it, such as with this case. And really who's to say that some of the other entries weren't done earlier prior to the contest?

Thanks,

I strongly disagree. This is a slap in the face to everybody who worked hard to make something new, within the contest's two month deadline period, and I have cast my vote accordingly. You're not actively participating in a contest if you're submitting something that you made prior to the challenge even existing.

Okay, very good I definitely see your point with this. I know times before in past contests, before you became head of the contests, people have submitted things that were done earlier before the contests even were decided and they got submitted through. I think the thing we were looking for mainly then was if the custom fit the criteria to the contest and if it hadn't been shown elsewhere before here and afterwords. That's generally what we were after, but again that was quite awhile ago. However if that's been changed and we're cracking down on this then by all means we'll get on it when they come through for approval in the underworld.

I don't know if there's a topic for this in the Mod section but I'll make one if not already to get this cleared up before the end of the contest.
Thanks,
Shin

It's a cool Panthro figure, but you're not allowed to submit old customs to Figure Realm contests. By your own admission, this figure is almost a year old.
