This should have been the first human (after Mera) Red Lantern. I’m surprised that this character never formed in the DC Universe. Jason Todd is/was a Red Lantern, just without the ring. He had it all: Red Domino mask, lots of rage and anger, and he already has red in his name. (And he sometimes has red hair, if you want to include that.) Pretty obvious to me. I mean, anything is better than a purple house cat.

Story: In an alternate Batman and Robin #23, as Jason Todd is being transported from prison back to Arkham a rouge Red Lantern ring flies through sector 2814. Being chased by Hal Jordan, the ring travels to Earth, and sensing the anger of Jason Todd, flies towards his police escort. Exploding through police cars and travelling through the chest of Todd’s driver and guards, the ring finds its way onto Jason’s hand. In a baptism of fire and blood, Jason Todd is freed as a Red Lantern. And he is angry. (I think this story would have been better than the Zoo crew’s rescue.)
