I love Pans Labyrinth, so i wanted to create one of its main characters, The Faun, the minion of the King of the Underworld sent to find his lost princess. This guy presented some interesting challenges, namely in that he covered in barky texture, has swirling designs all over him, strange legs, and a strange face. He was played by Doug Jones (who also played The Pale Man in Pans Labyrinth, but you may know him better as Abe Sapien from Hellboy), who is a very lanky guy, so i needed a pretty lithe base figure to start from, so i chose the Hasbro Black Spiderman, the same one alot of people are making the new Scarlet Spider out of.

The first challenge on him was making his legs. The figures knees didn't bend back far enough, so i had to dig in there and make his articulation more functional. Then I cut his feet off, and attached different widths of styrene strips to form his lower legs, which were then sculpted over. The vines and roots on his legs in the film come up over his hips like a armor plating kind of (think of Robocops legs) so i had to sculpt up extra area around there to add more roots to.

To simulate his barky texture i covered him in hot glue, and i think it turned out pretty well. Sculpted over his chest and made his shoulder epaulets, they're attached to his torso, so he can still move his arms around just fine.

His head was completely sculpted, hair included. His horns are from a Skeletor staff.

Painted him up in earthy tones, gave him a satchel, and he was finished. Enjoy!
