Custom #:38879
Name:Emma Frost
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Marvel Legends
Creator:scarecrow studios
Date Added:May 3, 2012
Base Figure:psylocke
Height:6.00 inches
i needed something better than the hasbro emma on my shelf, but this figure was a nightmare. i tried using the new citadel "base" white to blank out the psylocke but it took 2 coats which was too thick and peeled up like crazy and didn't go on smooth at all and needed sanded off and started over with more coats of their "layers" white paint but she never smoothed back out how id like. the dark colored citadel bases are good but im not using that white again.

shes a psylocke base, wasp feet, emma's cape (reworked), belt from donna troy and the head from a danger girl figure. sculpted new chest and top and connected to cape and sculpted clothing folds on pants.

Still looks awesome even with your painting woes man! Blows the doors off that poor hasbro one. A light grey foundation may help you next time you're in that boat--it won't be so dark that your white doesn't cover, but should add some nice texture details without "darkening" the figure or being too thick for a second wash coat.

love the recipe and really fantastic fig. I have had my problems with white also and have learned if you don't thin white and multiple coats, it is the best method. I had to learn the hard way myself.

How well did the layer paints work?

I found a old pre change over "skull white" in my paint drawer that had just enough left in it to finish her. I'm definitely sticking to layers of the layer paint from now on around the joints though.

I've had the same problem before-usually watering down the paint helps. All quirks aside, well done!

thanks. I learn something new with each custom and will apply that lesson to the next one.
