I was never a huge fan of Mandrill, but I did like his character after he joined the Hood's army of villains. He's a great third rate villain with a goofy look and corny powers. It was only a matter of time before I tried my hand at making a custom figure of this guy.

The is an often used recipe of Baron Zemo's body. I toyed around with the idea of using a baboon toy's head and doing some resculpting to make it look more like a Mandrill, but I was unable to find one in the proper scale. While I do prefer Mandrill's current look, which seems to be more animalistic, I decided to go with his original monkey face, which looks as though the artist had never seen a real mandrill before. My inspiration to use Beta Ray Bill's head came from izzyblack's custom on Figure Realm.

The ears, nose and hair were taken from various fodder and added onto the head. I originally had added some fangs, but they looked odd and hindered the mouth from fully closing so I removed them.

The hands and forearms are from Lady Deathstrike. The legs, neck and forearms were sculpted over with fur and the tops of the boots were resculpted after I chopped off the fur from Zemo's costume.

Overall I'm very happy with how Mandrill turned out. I'm slowly building up my Hood army. Next up will be Griffin, once I get all the right parts.
