Disapointed that the Iron Man of 2020 used the too-thin IM body from the first Marvel Universe wave, I decided to correct the villian of the future by transplanting his head and gear onto a Classic Iron Man body, then repainting the yellow tones into the dark gold of IM2020 with Folkart metallic gold and a hint of red and copper mixed in to darken it up some. I had to dip the gold harness part in very hot water to get it pliable enough to stretch over the bogger torso. As a finishing touch, I added a greeble from a Kutobokia gundam detailing set as the new unibeam- making it look more cannon like and aggressive. Useing the right body really makes this figure shine. As always, questions and comments are welcomed! ![]() |

On this fig, you have to sand the shoulder hinge some to avoid paint rub, but it's not a lot of work.
Use the Folk Art gold on classic IM and the Avengers box set gold armor and you'll see an incredible improvment. It kinda looks like crap when applied, but it dries metallic, so don't freak out if it looks dark at first. Dries perfect too. Drybrush it on over black for a perfect effect (I did my BAF Sentinel this way).
I used Folk Art metallics on my Sentinel builds and Kree officers- great stuff.
(Gah, I sound like a commercial! I'm just happy it works so well)
Anyway, thanks for your comments- glad you like Arno here1
