Hurt is my favorite Batman villain of the last decade! He's pure evil, with a dose of overzealous stupidity. You love to see him lose. In my first attempt at a Dr. Hurt, I used Frazier Irving's art as a source. He had a more strained face and white eyes. His cape was also relaxed and generic. For this one, I went toward the Cameron Stewart/Tony Daniel version, with some Chris Burnham influence on the head shape. I wanted the cape to look more animated than my last one, so I took a Black Lanterrn cape and sharpened the fingers into points to mimic the bat-cape he wore. The hand shape to the cape could also be symbolic of "the Black Glove". The body is mostly a straight repaint of that Heroes toy based on Malcolm McDowell(perfect). I did sculpt a new shirt underneath the jacket, which is his 50's style button-over doctor shirt with the flat colar. The head has to be a new record. I may be the ONLY customizer who has found a use for that awful DC Universe Classics Guy Gardner head. I sanded down that caveman brow, narrowed the chin a bit, and gave him new hair and the mask. I wanted the mask to look more organic, so his natural eyes are visible behind, which is how Tony Daniel and Cameron Stewart drew him. Spoiler alert for Dr. Hurt! The paintjob on the face was given a mix of blue and gray tones with the base flesh. I wanted him to appear somewhat ill, as he's mostly a space weapon disguising itself as a human being and his human physiology is up for debate. Enjoy the hole in things! ![]() |
