TMB wanted to see a Barry figure made so I decided to give it a go. For as good as he turned out he wasn't really that difficult. Don't ask me whos body parts he was made out of though, all I know is the head is from Kevin Nash. First off, new head on the body. New hair sculpted and the beard and hair were repainted brown. Next the vest was scupted over the previously bare chest. The revolver is from a Sin City Manute and the holster is from an XMC Stealth Gambit. The newly sculpted straps and pouches were painted brown while the vest was first painted red then drybrushed with red/brown. Pants got new pockets on each leg and then were repainted flat black. Final step was giving him the white sleeves and then putting on the annoyingly hard STARS symbol(which I still f-ed up but I think it looks pretty good). I'm pleased with how he came out. Good to see I'm finally starting my STARS team lol. Enjoy!!!  |

one of the easiest ways to "bulk" a figure is to add wads of material - even cotton wool or swab padding you get for wounds and tape them to the model then sculpt over
I'm using a similar technique on my Kingpin
But all in all X, this is a great barry - great stuff man

I guess its really just a preference to what you use. I mostly use scullpty for all that stuff because I feel I can shape it more accurately(even when it comes out crappy lol).
On occasion I use foam, hadnt put much thought into rubberbands though. Ill have to remember that for the rest of my STARS figures

Nice job MR X the chest harness looks pretty cool and the gun sits in it quite nicely.
though I think it you should use rubber bands to make straps.
I use to use sculpt but I found it easier to paste a rubberband and paint it brown.

I hear what you are saying about the size, it kept poppin gin my head as I worked.
When I picked the body, I picked the most normal torso I could. Just imagine that torso without the sculpting and thats the the body, there wasn't much muscle or anything, it was plain. I figured that would be best for trying to sculpt as a vest.
I imagine Barry as bigger height and size wise but not really ripped like we see some heros so I tried to use a netrual base and thats what I came up with, at least for an 8 inch scale.
If I ever made another one I would probably consider a larger body or maybe adding a little more to him.
Thanks for the compliments though, I'm very pleased with how he came out.
