Okay, here comes yet another figure in my Silver and Bronze Age Superboy collection, the Brain!

The Brain (not to be confused with the Doom Patrol villain of the same name) was a short, bald-headed peg-legged mad scientist who was the associate of another villain who called himself the General, and both battled Superboy and Krypto in their single appearance in Superboy #82 (July, 1960).

To do this figure, I took the Movie Masters Dark Knight Harvey Dent figure (since the Movie Masters figures are in fact shorter than the DC Universe classics figures, and are also the exact same height as the DC Direct Crisis on Infinite Earths Series 3 Earth-Prime Superboy figure, making it perfect for the Brain's shorter stature), and using the boil and pop method, removed the head, hands, arms, jacket, and necktie. Next, I used my Exacto knife to cut the right leg in half along the knee seam, and then, with the leg now amputated, I drilled a hole in the remaining part of the knee with my Dremel to accommodate the peg that I was about to create. The peg was taken from a 6" JAKKS Pacific Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Series 1 Captain Barbossa action figure. To use this, I used the Exacto knife to cut the peg off of Barbossa just above the cup. Once cut away from Captain Barbossa's leg, I used the Dremel again to sand down the cup into a dowel to fit into the hole that was previously drilled into the knee. When I had it sanded down to fit properly, I applied a small glob of Testors modeling cement into the hole, and then put the two pieces together. Once the glue had dried I made up a batch of Milliput, and applied it to the leg to create the pant leg. After the Milliput had set, I used a combination of sand paper and my Dremel to create the creases and folds in the pant leg. As soon as that was complete, I trimmed off about a quarter of an inch from the bottom of the pegleg itself so that it was now in scale with the Harvey Dent body. Next, I commenced a full repaint of the pants, shoulders, sleeves, and jacket in Testors Model Masters Acryllic French Blue for his suit, and his belt, shoe, and pegleg in Testors Model Masters Acryllic Sunburn. Once the paint had dried, I coated it with Testors Flat Clear to remove the semi-gloss on all but the shoe and belt (both were leather, and leather does have a slight sheen to it). After the Flat Clear had dried, I reassembled the figure, but he was still missing the Brain's cravat. I had an extra broken DC Direct Long Halloween Joker figure, and his cravat was perfect for what I needed. I removed the Joker's cravat, and gave it a full repaint in flat white, and then a coating in flat clear once the white had dried. After the flat clear dried, I glued the cravat in place. After some minor touchups on paint and flat clear, I had to start work on the cane. The cane was simple enough. I took a vintage LJN Mr. Fuji cane, and commenced a slight height trim to it followed by a sanding so that once painted there would be no paint rub. I then painted the cane with one coat of Testors Model Masters Acryllic Sunburn, followed by one coat of flat clear. Lastly, I added the head from a DC Direct Shazam Series 1 Sivana, and TA-DA...the Brain!!!!
