This is my "Caprica Museum of Colonial History". It's loosely based on the museums seen aboard the Galactica, and on Caprica throughout the series Battlestar Galactica. This museum features four different sections related to the history of the planet Caprica. There is the Cylon War exhibit- showing a lifesize cylon centurion, weapons used by the cylons, miniatures of a cylon raider as well as a colonial viper (all with specs and info about the ships). There are also diagrams of a cylon basestar and the internal workings of a centurion, as well as the famous painting of the Cylon War (seen in Adama's quarters in BSG). Then there is "From Kobol to Caprica"- which features artwork and artifacts thought to have been brought to Caprica from their ancestors planet of Kobol. There is a painting of the prophet Pythia (with a strong resemblance to Roslin), a painting of the 12 Lords of Kobol, the ancient scrolls, a sculpture of Artemis, and the famous Arrow of Apollo. Third is the "Natural Wonders of Caprica" showcasing rocks and plantlife foung on the planet, as well as a picture of Caprica's national park. And the last exhibit is "Interplanetary Travel", which features an accurate picture of the 12 colonies and their moons & stars, a replica of an early jump shuttle, diagrams of FTL ships, and a large model of the planet Caprica. The museum's window in the back also features a scenic view of the beautiful Caprica City. Recipe- I wanted this to look as much like a museum as possible- So I took quite a few cardboard boxes, cutting them down and spray painting them. Then some paper towel rolls which I painted to look like marble colums, and a print out of mosaic tile (in the famous shape from BSG for touch). After the base was done I printed out all the paintings and pictures and glued them around the walls. Then I cut down some pieces of wood and painted them for the stands and tables, and glued pictures to them accordingly. the cylon and its weapons are from the BSG line, as well as the Arrow of Apollo- but I sculpted the Artemis statue by hand, and painted the arm of a wrestler for the arrows stand. I found some coal and rocks outside for the nature part, as well as a small tube from the Star Wars line. The large planet was also from StarWars that I repainted, and the ship was a Star Trek shuttle model kit. The cylon raider and viper are from the Hasbro diecast line, and the rest of the accessories are made by hand or from my fodder box. As a finishing touch, I added the Colonial Seal to the ground in front of the entrance way, and hung the flags of the Colonies all around the museum. Some small LED lights hanging from the walls to accent the exhibits, various figures in scale as the civilian crowd, and there you have it.... The Caprica Museum of Colonial History. ![]() |
