Made this 3 years ago, only just posting now.
Disappointed Hasbro still haven't made a Reilly Scarlet Spider, so I set out to make my own. At the time I had never done a full custom before, just improvements, fixes or touch ups. I considered this my best custom for a while, and back then I was really amateurish.
Made from a Scarlet Spider from the Ares wave (Ben Reilly Spidey suit). First I sculpted over the head, made sure it was as smooth as can be. Didn't feel the need for sculpted eyes. Different artists...
Sculpted a belt, with a buckle and web cartridges. Also made the pouches and straps on the ankles. All made from green stuff.
Next I painted from head to toe with Blood Red Citadel paints. REALLY gave him a nice paint job, beautiful red colour. Painted the eyes, and any other details.
Took me forever, but he was finally painted. Sealed (for most part, at the time I was naive to think sealing would prevent paint rub) with an acryllic sealer, unknown brand.
Next I made from scratch a sleeveless hoodie from a blue t-shirt. Even made the drawstrings. Printed out a couple Reilly spider logos with blue backgrounds, ironed them on.
BOOM I was finished. However it was not fully poseable since I hadn't eliminated paint rub :(.
So I just had him in this standing pose on my shelf for 3 years as you can see.
Tried to fix paint rub by repainting a little.
I am going to try again, but this time with the new Kaine SS, do pretty much the same again but not painting the suit.
