In light of NECA having released Big Red and the imminent release of the Albino, I thought i'd jump in with a custom of the Wasp!

this was pretty much a straight up repaint of the masked Jungle Hunter figure. instead of the screen used unmasked look, I opted instead for the insectoid mask that was originally going to be used, but was ultimately rejected.

the alien head/spear accessory was a combination of a repainted alien skull and a number of fodder weapons cut to size/shape and repainted.

now to see what NECA do with Wasp! :-)

wow yours looks so much better than the one neca has. I just got that one, and frankly I wish I didn't. too bright skin tone, and the staff alien head on mine was... weird. yours is so cool. one question, why isn't the alien head bleeding?

thank you for the compliment! I didn't have a lot of reference material when I made mine, & the one good photo of him with the staff didn't seem to show any gore (google 'batman dead end wasp', you'll find a behind the scenes pic of three of the Preds, Wasp with the staff) So I just tried to replicate that. I kinda had to wing it a little bit, coz u might notice that mine isn't actually a xeno HEAD, but is in fact the xeno SKULL painted up to look like the head! I had to work with the materials I had...

Funny thing is, the pred that actually holds that weapon with the alien skull on it in the film is yet another 'broken tusk' and is unmasked. his upper right mandible has a broken tip on it. the actual 'wasp' pred is the one that fought batman.

funnily enough, the one that fought Batman seems to be the one that everyone forgot about! you're absolutely right, he is unmasked in the video. if you google 'Batman Dead End Wasp' though, you'll see the initial costume design complete with the bio from which he draws his nickname. it's not screen accurate, but I thought it gave him more character. NECA even released a prototype of their own one at SDCC this year!

Yea, pretty cool to have one of your figures done by them, right ? I don't think they were going to do the Kenner re hash figures until I did a few customs of them. There have been a few other guys that have done customs from the Pred Universe that NECA has borrowed from too.
