2002 The Flash is a great design, he's the archetype speedster and I wanted one. DC Direct had just come out with a decent modern Flash in the JLA line, but it was too tall and not well articulated, so like a lot of people ended up doing, I combined that DC Direct toy with a Marvel Legends body. And what could be better than the Spider-man line Daredevil. I wasn't crazy about that DD but it made for a good Flash. Head, chest, hands, feet - DC Direct JLA Flash Abs and ab crunch, hips, arms, legs - Daredevil I sawed the torso in half on each toy and joined them together, so I kept the chest and symbol of the DC Direct toy and the ab crunch of the DD. Some sculpting to join them together. I had to remove the leg pouch and then try to match up the paint with the left leg - and I kinda overdid the black wash. I took the hands off the DC Direct toy and joined them to the articulated wrists of the DD, and did the same trick with the feet as I did with Batman and for much the same reason - the DC Direct toy had these awesome treads on the soles of the feet, but I wanted all the joints of the DD, so I joined the 2 together. The yellow lightning bolt costume details were all cut from sign vinyl. I still use this toy because I love the poses I can get from the advanced articulation and the Flash needs it. Plus I liked the body's build a lot better than the DCUC one that came out years later. ![]() |
