Oh Snap !!! Have you ever wondered if there was more to life, other than being really, really, ridiculously good looking? Hee hee. This Zoolander action figure was a lot of fun to make. I had an Identity Crisis Capt. Boomerang lying around and it just screamed "male model" to me. So who better to make than Derek Zoolander?
Recipe:

Base- Captain Boomerang
Head- Superman Returns
Cell-phone- Melted plastic that was shaped

I took the Superman head and cut the ridiculously square jaw to make Derek appear more slender. I also sanded around the mouth and attempted to give him his "Magnum" look. Sculpted his signature hair style and re-painted. On the body, I had to cut off part of the shirt and fill in with sculpt to get rid of all the boomerang holes. I used a lot of metallic paints for this one. I was going to sand off the shin guards, but decided to keep them, to make the character look more interesting (besides, models wear weird things all the time, right?).

Even though you can't see it very well, he is holding his little cell phone in the first picture. I tried to create his "Magnum" look by using a flashlight when I took the picture. My only disappointment is he doesn't have many articulation points, so posing is limited.

Someday, I'll have to make a Hansel and a Mugatu to go with him.
