I’ve really liked the Superior Spider-Men that have been showing up here on the Realm and I thought I would try my hand at making my own. However, I wanted to do mine a little differently, something to set him apart. After some thought, I decided to make ‘Superior Spider-Man (McFarlane Style)’. The goal here was to create a similar but‘alternate’ Superior Spider-Man more like he might have looked if Todd McFarlane was still drawing him. With that in mind, I tried to combine the mainstream Superior look with some of McFarlane’s style. Keep in mind it isn't exactly McFarlane, but more of an interpretation. As you can see, I kept the overall color scheme and basic design we all know and how Spidey is currently appearing. His colors are still red and black for the most part, he still has the gauntlets on his arms, red on his boots and a backpack. However, to make him more McFarlane-ish, he does have some changes. The eyes and body type, of course, are more like the older, big-eyed, smaller build that his design was known for. In addition, his Spider symbol is more like it was then; smaller than the typical Superior symbol. There are also smaller details I changed around, if you’ll notice the gloves. Since SS is a darker character, I liked the idea of his fists being armored (it felt more menacing) so I left the gloves with that armored look. I also darkened the majority of the red on his suit. Like I said, I like to see SS as a darker character than Peter Parker was, so I tried to show that more through his costume coloring. In addition to the main figure, I also made two Spider-bots (recipe below); both feature magnets in them allowing them to cling to metal. Now for the recipe: -The main body was a spare Spider-Man body I had in the fodder bin, not sure what series. -Arms are from an XMC Magneto -Feet are from an XMC Cyclops -Backpack: sculpted onto the back, pulled off, hardened, sprayed with Plasti-dip for strength, then apoxed on and the seams between backpack and body were hit with superglue, then the whole thing was painted. -Spider-bots are Lego spiders sculpted over with Super Sculptey and have magnets put into their bottoms so they can stick to metal. Hope you enjoy! ![]() |

I think the most agonizing part was just trying to get the dry brushing and washes on I did on him to fit what I wanted, lol.
