Base Figure:11th Doctor Series 5
Height:5.00 inches
Due to the awful line of 3.75" figures that are now being sold as opposed to the far superior 5" figures, I decided to turn one of my series 5 11th Doctor figures into the Doctor we see from the "Bells of Saint John" onward in series 7. I loved this costume far more than Matt Smiths series 5,6 and 7 part 1 outfit and thought it was a real shame we never got to see this as a 5" figure before the change to the smaller line of figures.
To make this I took the series 5 Doctor, removed the tweed jacket and replaced it with a shortened 10th Doctor trench coat which I painted purple (I would have preferred a darker plum colour that was more screen accurate but I couldn't find one that was just right anywhere). I then took a waistcoat belonging to a Hobbit figure and stuck it on adding a fob chain in silver paint. I also painted his bowtie from the series 5 red to the same purple and adding small dots/patterns of a creamy colour as the bowtie he wears in series 7 part 2 had such patterns.
It would have been brilliant if they had kept the 5" line at least until the start of Peter Capaldi's run so we could have had this costume along with Clara, the new TARDIS interior, Ice warrior etc. They managed to give us a 5" John hurt figure (thank god!) so why they couldn't have made at the very least a "Day of the Doctor" set with this costume and Clara in along with the War Doctor and 10th Doctor is beyond me!

Cheers for all the feedback guys! I do like the sets that come with the 3.75" range but still would have loved a final Day of the Doctor set to bid a rather apt 50th anniversary farewell to the 5" figure line, also a massive Hobbycraft has just opened down he road with a whole section dedicated to model making so I will raid the paint stocks for a brown or maybe even the right plum colour and will maybe post an updated version in the future. At the min working on a Clara and Spider Dalek

Overall, wonderful effort. Suggestion: you could achieve the plum by mixing a touch of brown paint rather than trying to match it off the shelf! And, do not limit yourself to just model paints. I've gotten great color matches with nail polish, for example!

Nice work though as you say a little bright. It's a very nice costume. I do happen to like the smaller figures though especially due to the cheap playsets making very nice backdrops and the figure size actually being easier to do 'crossovers' with other collectable lines. I sold off all my 5 inch range a while ago mainly due to needing space and money.
