The character of Firefly was my first custom back from my hiatus and I knew I wanted to try revisiting the character one day. I always liked him and felt he was an underused Batman rogue.

With my first figure, I was trying to reach a kind of middle ground between the comics and the Nolan films, you know, real looking without losing the comics character feel. For this figure, I wanted to lean even more towards the real, Nolan look.

The way I see it, were criminals to exist in the real world, like in the Nolan-verse, they wouldn't be as colorful. Sure, you might have your Jokers who are a little more personality plus, but most of them would be fairly everyday people. I can't imagine they would go out and buy, or even make, such outgoing, outlandish costumes like they wear in the comics. Take TDKR's Bane-he was more practical then out there. Everything served a purpose, or at least wasn't a bright color or made of spandex. That's what I wanted to do with this guy: make a Firefly that is a guy who took real, practical hardware and uses it to pillage and plunder. He loses the bug-theme, but still keeps the BA 'I'm a super criminal' look.

I chose the head I did because I loved how much it looked like Garfield Lynns from 'Batgirl: Year One' and the 'Batman: Animated Series' show. Not to mention it has that apathetic, crazy look that he has in both series.

Other than that, it was mostly kit bashing. Jumpsuit is from the fodder bin, and the boots are from a movie GI Joe Cobra trooper and were given a dry brush of brown to look dirty. The helmet and flamethrower are both from Final Fantasy movie figures. Normally, I would have repainted both, but both items actually had really great paint jobs and went well with the colors I wanted. The vest he's wearing was from a Dragon 12 inch figure, I felt like it gave him more of an insulated, heavy look.

Finally, the jet pack is from a House of M Wolverine figure, and like my first figure, retain their spring-loaded, moving wings and firing rocket as well as the thick, removable leather straps.

Works well. Would have looked good in Arrow as well but they already had him in it and killed him off in same episode.
