X-Man was a great idea that I "borrowed" from someone else's custom. Once I saw that Xorn could be used to make a rather nice X-Man figure, I knew exactly where to go from there. I knew that there were certain aspects of X-Man's costume that I could add to Xorn in order to make him even cooler looking then the original custom that I saw. To start with I dremeled down Xorn's chain-like textured chest. Smoothing out all of that detail to look like a plain torso. Then I sculpted up his chest a little to give him back a muscular chest. I added the sculpted lines on his legs, which prooved to be a real pain, but very much worth it. It gives him a really nice 3D feel to his costume. I also sculpted on his collar, and knee pads as well. I gave those a few little ripple effect lines for extra detail, which looks really nice up close. Now for his hair. I've always hated this style of hair cut that X-Man has, but I wanted him to look comic book accurate, so I just tried to make the hair style look cool, with a detailed hair sculp. As for paints, I gave him a complete dark blue backwash followed by a lighter blue dry brush. Once again these pictures simply can not do justice to how cool this made his jacket look. Same idea for his hair, dark brown wash with a light brown dry brushing, followed by his white highlights in the front. You might not notice it very well in the pcitures, but there is also a nice little yellow energy burst painted around his left eye. So there you have it, X-Man: the man who fell to earth! Enjoy -Please excuse my poor photos. The camera I'm using is very picky. ![]() |
