This was a spur of the moment idea I came up with to try and use some of the generic wrestling figures I have. I actually like Batista casted as Drax, because he looks perfect for the part. My only complaint is with the character design…it just seems too ‘movie original’ and not enough comic-y for my tastes, which was where this guy came in. My goal was to create a middle-ground figure; use the likeness and body type of Batista, but give him more of a comic look as if it was the original design being shown on screen. Actually wasn’t a hard figure, but some work. First thing I did, after scrubbing and cleaning the figure, was popping open the chest so I could sand down the arm sockets to help stop paint rub. Next step was to pop the arms apart at the elbows and sand/clean that area, as it was rubbing enough to wipe paint off. After I put him back together, I filled in my various holes with sculpey, hardened it and the entire body was repainted. Everything, top to bottom is new and shiny, including the swords. Last step was the do the detailing, and then everything was given several coats of sealer. Last but not least, he got a pair of a rubber, removable wrestling knee pads to give him a little more detail. One of the things that I like is because Drax is a bigger character and these wrestling figures are made bigger then ML’s, he actually fits in really well with your typical Marvel Legends figure set! ![]() |
