I have a HUGE 3.75 Star Wars figure addiction. Bored of them just standing on protectsstands I'm starting to make these stands. This was a 'prototype' really to see how it looked.
I used balsa wood sheets cut to desired size. I glued 4 protect stands to the wood and once dried I adhered polyfilla on top with added grit and sand. Once hard and dry I painted a sand color in acrylic paint and then dry brushed with darker brown paint, added more grit and sand to base. The rocks are made from scraps of dry floral foam (the brown variety), then painted the same as the sand. I then added some pastel for weathering. To finish I glued to black foam board. This could be used in any type them....next is some endor and sci fi spaceship type stands. :)
