I've been a huge fan of TMNT as far back as I can remember.
Coming across the Archie Adventures comics at a local 7-11 was like finding gold for me as a child as I had no idea it existed.
Luckily for me it was only 3 issues in at the time but I was hooked ever since.
At many points in the series Raphael dawned a black costume with blue highlights that he go from their stint in the intergalactic wrestling federation.
It's very much in the same vein as Spider-Man's black outfit just not alive thought I believe the original plan was for it to be alive.
Anyway this custom was one of my first and no one else had done one at that point but since many have come along and have done their own renditions.
The base is a NECA Raphael figure as that was the best TMNT figure line at the time and the original Drawing of the Turtles in these different outfits matched the art style very much.
I took off his bandana and sculpted over the now open area giving it a nice maskless look.
I sanded down the elbow pads and wrist wraps with a dremel.
I removed his belt and knee pads and filled in the holes left behind with sculpey.
I then added a few coats of Liquitex Glossies Black paint to the body until it won't come off of the joints.
I then added a Blue wash using basic acrylic paint and added some other details as well with this paint.
I made 10 of these all of which went to TMNT fans over at the Technodrome Forums and one for my personal collection.
