This is actually a really old figure that I just finished up. Like quite a few years old, before I stopped customizing for a while.

The original concept isn't mine either; don't ask me why Magneto would fuse with Venom, but I think the idea, and the art looked great. I found the character idea on DeviantArt way back when and asked the artist for permission to do a figure off of it-it just got lost in translation. Somewhere buried in my picture folder, as well as on DA is the original art and the artists name, I gotta look through it so I can credit the artist, which I plan to do once I find it again-just making sure everyone know the original concept isn’t mine, however much I tweaked it.

He's actually a pretty heavy figure. I started by taking a 12 inch Pirates of the Caribbean figure, which was glued down to the base as well as having everything from the waist down glued tight so that I could work around it. From there, I cut small pieces of Styrofoam and glued them to the figure, working my way up. Once that was done, the figure got hit with an ungodly amount of hot glue as I worked the entire body, giving it that fluid, moving symbiote look. Almost every inch of the figure got hit with glue to make him look like a towering, mutant fused machine of destruction.

Following that, the figure got hit with a coating of black Plasti-Dip spray, sealing everything in a light layer of rubber and giving him the right texture.

Next, I sculpted the helmet and hardened it. I started differentiating here from the base design (as well as keeping the metal arm gauntlets). I chose to make the helmet look more 'alive' and not smooth it out to make it look more metal. While I'm sure Magneto is still wearing metal around his dome, I wanted him to look more like a living Venom weapon. The only 'real' metal he is wearing is the gauntlets (although I can guarantee he probably has more within his body).

I also chose to give him a cape, which was also absent in the original concept. To me, a cape is essential to Magneto, especially here. With an ego like his, the cape makes him look more 'royal' and supreme-to actually go out of the way and give yourself a symbiote formed cape just to look more regal; you can see his ego and delusions of grandeur. The cape was made from a McFarlane Predator cape, hit with hot glue and painted. It has been kept removable, fitting snuggly around the figures neck but with the ability to come off.

Finally, the painting. I kept the classic black for the main body but hit the whole body, and cape, with a dry brush and wash of blue. I felt it did a better job at emphasizing the flowing of the symbiote. As for the 'metal' parts, the helmet and gauntlets, I decided to stick with an older style, brighter color scheme. Some would argue a darker one would look grittier, but again, I think the brighter scheme emphasizes everything else.

Final 'figure' stands about 13 inches tall and has only two points of articulation at the wrists.
