I wanted this Groot to look a little different than most of the Groot figures I've seen lately.
I looked at Skottie Young's Groot, and went with a more realistic sculpt based on his cartoony design.

Groot is made from a Marvel Legends Icons Human Torch, with a 100% original sculpted head! I jammed a broken Hulk bicep onto the neck joint, made a wire frame, and sculpted the tree-trunk-like head around it, and gave him a cloth collar.

I dremeled Torch's chest down flat, removed his hands & feet, and sanded his lower arms and lower legs into points.

I then cut the arms, legs from a Applause Vinyl Treebeard statue, drilled them out and shoved them onto the pointed arm & leg parts.

I cut off the hands, and installed revoltech joints for the wrists. Feet come from an Incredible Hulk movie line Abomination figure.

The chest, bandolier & pouches were sculpted, and the branches are all hot glue & wire for flexibility. AND, he stands a whopping 17" from toes to treetop!!

I added some more branches protruding from his back, wrapped it up in citadel & model masters paints, and voila!
17" of Floral Fury!
