Okay, here comes yet another entry in my Silver and Bronze Age Superboy collection, the Operation Counter Invasion Aliens. These three alien conquerors appeared in one episode of the 1966-1969 Filmation Adventures of Superboy cartoon. These three aliens, whose home planet and what alien race they belonged to were not identified in the episode, possessed moderate-level telepathic powers that enabled them to verbally communicate with and understand alien languages. Only one of the three was given an actual name in the episode (Krug), while the remaining two were either not named or simply referred to as "Leader". All of these aliens were voiced by the late, great Ted Knight.

To do Krug, I took a DC Universe Classics Crime Syndicate boxset Power Ring and using the boil and pop method and removed his head, arms, and hands. With the figure headless, I mixed up a small batch of Milliput and applied it around his neck to create a pullover style shirt collar. When the Milliput dried, I sanded it smooth so that it blended in with the Power Ring's chest. Next, I applied two generous coats of Testors Model Masters Gloss Green to every portion of the Power Ring body except for the hands and neck. When the gloss green had dried, I took the head from a DC Universe Classics Jemm Son of Saturn, and used my Dremel to sand off the gem on his forehead. Next, I gave the head two generous coats of Testors Model Masters Ogre Green, followed by two generous coats of Flat Clear. When the Flat Clear finally dried, I used the boil and pop method to attach the now completed Jemm head onto the Power Ring body. Next, I put the arms back together, but instead of using the Power Ring hands, I took a set from a broken DC Universe Classics Starman Jack Knight which I had previously painted with two generous coats of the ogre green, followed by two generous coats of Flat Clear. With Krug now fully reassembled, I glued a symbol onto the chest (the symbol was made by hand at a larger size, and then photocopied and shrunk to proper size...however, unlike previous hand drawn symbols I had done before, this was covered with a piece of glossy magic tape to protect it somewhat). Once the glue I used to attach the symbol was dry, I gave the symbol two generous coats of Flat Clear. Once Krug was completed, I started work on his mace. For the mace, I took the mace that came with a DC Direct Superman/Batman Public Enemies Series 2 Hawkman and used my Dremel to shorten the handle, and remove the remains of the handle straps and the protrusions on the mace head. Once the Dremel work was completed, I gave the mace two generous coats of Testors Model Masters Argent Silver for the headpiece and Testors Model Masters Flat Black for the handle, followed by two generous coats of Flat Clear.

To do the unnamed other officer, I repeated all of the above steps that I used on Krug, except that instead of using the Jack Knight hands, I used the hands from a DC Universe Classics B'wana Beast (these were used because in the episode, this alien did not use a weapon to attack Superboy, but rather his bare fists, and B'wana Beast's clenched fists worked perfectly here).

With the two subordinates finished, I next started work on the Leader. For the Leader, I repeated the steps that I used for the above two, except here, I needed a gun holster since he was the only one who tried to attack Superboy with an energy pistol. To do this, I took the lower body from a broken DC Universe Classics Starman Ted Knight and attached it to the upper body of the Power Ring (I also painted the gun belt with two generous coats of Testors Model Masters Dark Gray for the belt and holster and Testors Model Masters Argent Silver for the buckle, followed by two generous coats of Flat Clear). With the lower body attached, I used the boil and pop method to swap out Starman's lower legs (from the knees down) with those from Power Ring. Next, I attached the Starman hands to the arms. Once assembly was completed and all paint apps were completed, I took the raygun from a DC Universe Classics Killer Moth and gave it two generous coats of flat black, followed by two generous coats of Flat Clear. When the last of the Flat Clear had finally dried, I put the blaster in the Leader's right hand, and TA-DA...the Operation Counter Invasion Aliens who fought Superboy in the episode "Operation Counter Invasion"!!!

Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.

Thanks, claytonemery. I'm glad that you liked them. They were a lot of painstakingly hard work to put together (with literally a lot of blood, sweat, and tears...no joke), but, as I have stated before, I definitely think that the results do indeed speak for themselves.

Thanks, pock63. I'm glad that you liked them. They were a lot of hard work to put together, but I think that the results do indeed speak for themselves. They are a small, very small footnote in Superboy history, but they round out the Boy of Steel's Rogues Gallery nicely.
