So, seeing how Mattel really dropped the ball when it came to the Crime Syndicate, only giving us three of the character designs from the JLA: Earth2 graphic novel (Ultraman, Owlman, and Super Woman), I decided to round out the team with the remaining members. First up is the Wally West equivalent of Johnny Quick.
So, to do this figure, I took the DC Universe Classics Crime Syndicate boxset Johnny Quick and used the boil and pop method to remove the head and arms. Next, I attached the arms from a DC Universe Classics Flash that had the lightning stripes removed. With the new arms attached, I commenced a full repaint of the ankle balls with Testors Model Masters Argent Silver, followed by two full coats of gloss clear to give the ankle balls a shiny, metallic sheen. With the ankle balls finished, I started on the head. To do the head, I used a custom molded head that I found online that was designed to look like the helmeted head that Johnny Quick had in the graphic novel. I gave the head two generous coats of Testors Acryl Peach for the skin, Testors Model Masters Argent Silver for the helmet, and Testors Model Masters Black Boot Topping for the visor. Once the paint on the head had died fully, I gave it two generous coats of flat clear for the skin, followed by two generous coats of gloss clear for the helmet. When the coats of flat clear and gloss clear had fully dried, I attached the head to the body, and TA-DA...Johnny Quick as he appeared in the JLA: Earth2 graphic novel!!!
Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.
