Custom #: | 74364 | Name: | Peter Parker Headsculpt | Custom Type: | Other | Toy Series: | Marvel | Creator: | Happy | Date Added: | June 29, 2015 | Base Figure: | Scratch | Height: | 0.50 inches |
After lots of feedback I decided to try and sculpt another head. This time in a bigger scale. I am not quite experienced and this is not perfect, however I tried my best to make it look better. Weeks and weeks of time went into this. The hardest part was painting it. I hate painting the pupils, however I had fun with dry brushing and mixing colours. Hope you like it! Please wait... |

Cool and awesome work!!
What are you using for sculpting.
-Get some apoxie like the ones in the tutorials AVES, Milliput, etc.. They dry faster and let you work with a more solid base. This way you can work witl layers. First a Ball for head and then add layers, then nose and eyes (I am far from a descent sculpter, so maybe I shouldnt be giving advice, but like you I am trying and modyfing parts of figures are good for practice first than face sculpting.), and sculpting heads from scratch is really dificult, not to mention painting eyes, etc.. Try modifying or working over previous heads.
- Try to purchase some sculpting tools, cheap basic tools first, and like the other advice Needles, toothpichs , add water, exacto knife, so you do the smallest use of your fingers in detail shaping.
Good luck,
By the way love your fin the human carácter..
Sculpting heads from scratch is a difficult business, so I applaud your effort and initiative. Not sure what sculpting tools you are using, but I think you could benefit from using a ball stylus or some other smaller tools to help define the eye sockets/eyelids and inner ears. These tools would also help to shape the nose a little more. In addition, you may want to use a needle or other tool for fine lines to sculpt and define the hair strands. I think the biggest issues on this particular headsculpt are (1) the eyes are too far apart and lack defined eyelids, and (2) the nose needs to be defined more. You did get close to having a good overall head shape though and that's not always easy to achieve.
Anyway, that's just a few suggestions. It takes a great deal of practice and patience to get the knack of headsculpting and even those of us who have been doing it for a long time can still continue to improve. So keep at it...practice and learn and you will improve by leaps and bounds. A lot of guys give up too early. My first headsculpts were atrocious, but I stuck with it . Keep working!
