The last of the four Dark Judges! Conceptually, Judge Fire was the most difficult for me to figure out. How do you make a figure of a guy who is supposed to be engulfed in flames? I originally planned to use one of those clear Judge Death variants, but the plastic used for that was so brittle that it cracked apart just from opening the packaging. After that mishap, I knew I'd have to use the standard version of the Judge Death base. I decided to paint his uniform a dark brown with a black wash and then just attach little clear flame pieces from wherever I could find them. I realized that they really covered up the figure and just looked bad, so I scaled it back, and only left a few pieces of flame on him. I painted his hands, feet, and skull head a dark red with a black wash over them. I didn't attach any flames to his head, because I found there was no way to do it and not have him look like a version of Ghost Rider. I painted all the flame pieces so that they would match, and also so that his badge would stand out more. After all that, I had to work on his trident. I used a DC Direct Aquaman trident, and decided to simply paint it so that it looked like it had some sort of "internal" fire, since sticking flame pieces onto the trident would cover up its shape. So here he is! The last of the four Dark Judges! Burn, sinners!! ![]() |
