Judge Dredd (2000 AD) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:74969
Name:Judge Dredd
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:2000 AD
Creator:yugioh123abc
Date Added:July 17, 2015
Base Figure:Hasbro Amazing Spider-Man 2 Electro
Height:6.00 inches
I wanted to make a Dredd figure that was more grounded in reality, like the Dredd movie, but that was also evocative of the Sideshow statue. I decided to go for darker, more muted colors, while maintaining a pretty muscular physique. The head is from the Hasbro Punisher, with parts from the LCBH Dredd and the ReAction Judge Anderson added to the Hasbro Electro body. I wanted to give him all kinds of gear, so I loaded his belt down with pouches, equipment, and grenades from a lot of different figures. I know the handcuffs on the front of his belt came from the DC Direct Commissioner Gordon figure, but I don't remember what figures everything else came from. I hate the guns that came with the Toy Biz Dredd, and I wasn't about to buy a ReAction Dredd just for his Lawgiver pistol, so I painted a futuristic-looking pistol that I found and gave that to him to go along with his club and knife. So here he is!
I am the law!!

great job the big toy companies could learn something from your creations; finding good Dredd figures on the mass market is like finding hen's teeth...

Thanks! I tried to make him look gritty and dirty, like he looked in the Dredd movie, but I wanted him to have his classic look too, with the big eagle shoulder pad.

For dark colors it's better not to use flash because the shadows hide a lot of detail. Instead, set up a quick "light box" by using a big sheet of white poster paper as the backdrop, and use at least 2 lamps to light it from the sides. Use very low ISO on your camera and use a tripod if you have to do a longer exposure.

That white shelf you have there looks fine, just use the lamps instead of flash and you should be good.

Thanks a lot! Good luck with yours! If I had known how difficult it was to take photos of figures with such dark colors, I would have given him a slightly brighter paint job!

Thanks a lot! Yeah, that LCBH Dredd looks downright wimpy compared to all the amazing customs I've seen of him on here. Great armor pieces thought!
