I don't often stray from my never-ending pursuit of building my DC Universe collection but sometimes I feel the need to do something different. I rarely make a Marvel figure so long as Hasbro is still churning them out because I'd rather make figures I'm fairly certain will never see release. Sure there are plenty of Marvel characters that fit that bill, but I guess I have a more substantial DCUC fodder to build from, too.

Anyway, I was about halfway through binge watching Jessica Jones when I saw a really neat custom on here by Senshinokage using the Diamond Select Gotham Selina Kyle as a base. I thought it was an obvious, but brilliant call, so I decided I wanted one as well--having coupons that brought the figure down to $8 at TRU helped as well.

But what head to use? I wanted something I thought would look at least moderately close to Krysten Ritter, and I didn't have the same head available that the original used, so I set about sifting through the fodder. By sheer serendipity I found something I'd work on a few months. I'd had some extra sculpt left from a previous project, and I never liked the way the Hasbro ML Mystique and Madame Viper's cheeks were so sunken in, so I filled them in with some sculpt, painted the Mystique head a flesh tone the next day to see how it looked, then tossed it back in the fodder bin for a future used. As it was, I kind of liked the shape/slope of the eyes for this project, so I gave it a full paint job. The hair was another tough choice as I didn't have too many that looked serviceable, so in the end I went with a Ronan wave Invisible Woman hair with a little extra sculpt on the right side. I think it captures the length and body of how Jessica Jones often appears on the show.

And that was about it, just multiple washes on the pants to get a nice denim look. The nice part about this figure was the torso and arms were already near perfect, I just modified the shirt under the jacket a little to look more like a grey shirt. I was tempted to make a scarf for her as well but didn't since she wore that more with a different jacket as opposed to the leather jacket. But maybe I will. Debating whether to keep her or auction her off and make another one. Decisions, decisions. I guess maybe if she gets a positive response...
